Dr. Brian O’leary: “We may never know for sure who "did" the supreme crimes of 9/11. But what we do know is that this tragedy can only divert us from uncovering the truth of the potential of breakthrough energy. The facts become buried ever more deeply under layers of disinformation, deception and hubris.
Understanding the causes and effects of 9/11 become all the more important when we look at the bigger picture. Griffin wrote: "This (official) story (serves) as a national religious Myth, used to justify two wars, which have caused many (hundreds) of thousands of deaths, (and) to start a more general war on Islam, in which Muslims are considered guilty until proven innocent…(one) destructive consequence of the attacks was their use to focus the public and Congressional mind almost exclusively on terrorism, thereby distracting it from the ecological crisis, which is arguably the overarching issue of our age. For the first time in history, one species, our own, is on a trajectory which, if not radically altered, will soon bring our planet's life, at least in its higher forms, to an end. The prominent issue of our day, therefore, should be whether human civilization can learn to live in a way that is sustainable…the violence of 9/11, along with the official narrative thereof, distracted our primary attention away from the relation between humanity and nature and forced it back to human-vs.-human issues." (David Ray Griffin, Christian Faith and the Truth behind 9/11, p. 183, 2006, and Debunking 9/11 Debunking, Olive Branch Press, p. 320, 2007
The accusation that outsiders who seek the truth based on the best available evidence are merely "conspiracy theorists" is clearly a mind control exercise which, in Orwellian Newspeak, gives the false impression that anyone who questions official pronouncements is a nut case. Ironically, the authorities themselves tell the tallest tales of all, poignant sacred myths that opened this violent new century. My own exile from the ranks of mainstream science to the land of conspiracy theorists project an image of someone who has gone off the deep end, just like the taxi driver in the Mel Gibson film.
What I feel is actually happening is that our unwillingness to unveil basic (painful) truths can provide a dramatic counterpoint that could sprout the new life of solutions from the fertile bullshit of the massive corruption of a leadership bent on criminally destroying our democracy. They are suppressing our freedom to pursue those realities that can lift us out of the fears of the unknown and of death. Yet embracing these realities could lead us into a truly sustainable future.
The process of change, of forming alliances of truth movements, desperately needs to recruit ever-increasing numbers of people. This initiative should include at least the following steps: (1) seek the truth of major cultural issues and assertions by examining the evidence, free of vested interests, (2) face the well-known psychological pains of truth-telling rather than experience the pleasures being part of the official conspiracy of zealous liars, (3) face the dangers of being ridiculed, threatened, cut off and even assassinated, (4) formulate sensible future policies in which we can truly have a peaceful, sustainable and just future worldwide, and (5) create a nonviolent revolution and concomitant restoration of the spirit of the U.S. Constitution to make that so.
Inside Job: A Crime Story Like No Other In History
The Academy Award-winning documentary Inside Job is that type of movie. Narrated by Matt Damon, the film shows how Wall Street's greed—and Washington's corruption—led to a global economic meltdown. And the 1% will do more of the same again—unless the 99% stop them.
The five largest banks are using their clout right now to avoid accountability for hundreds of thousands of illegal foreclosures.1 Wall Street's influence must be curbed
